Hi, I have been scouring the forums for some clues as to what might be wrong with my fishes and I was wondering if any of you can help me out.

Setup:
---------
10 gallon
Power Filter
Heater (set to 78-80 deg)
6 Plants - Anacharis and Cabomba
Aquarium salt added.

Community:
--------------
4 Peppermint Platies (3 male, 1 female)
3 Red Wag Platies (2 male. 1 female)

History:
---------
4 month old setup
Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite normal.
pH 7.4 ( I suspect the pH is too high)
Ick, 2months ago. Treated successfuly
Food: tropical flake - diet unchanged over the last 4 months
1 fish died of popeye 3 months ago.

Symptons:
-------------
This morning we noticed one of the male red wags losing balance and drifting around. We immediately transferred it to a fishbowl with spring water mixed with tank water. We then looked up this forum, mixed some food with garlic juice and fed this fish. After about 30 mins the platy seemed normal.
We decided to do a 20% water change, just in case. While doing this, we noticed the other male red wag with the same symptoms and transferred it to the fishbowl as well. This fish, however, would not eat.
After a while we transferred both red wags back to the 10 gallon. While the first platy seems to be doing all right (except swimming nose up all the time - see pic), the second platy does not seem to doing well at all.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

UPDATE: 03:38p

Second platy died. First one still fighting.

UPDATE: 10/23, 12:51p

First platy, lot worse. Gasping for breath.

Did you do a water change just before they got sick, or had it been quite a while? How often do you usually do water changes. Your pH is fine, and the fish shouldn't have a problem with it. Has anything changed in the tank recently?

There don't seem to be a lot of specific symptoms, so it's hard to diagnose. You might want to check this link to see if you can get any further insight: http://www.fishyfarmacy.com/diseases.html

Thanks for your input guys.

1. Ammonia level is 0
2. Nitrate & Nitrite are normal

What puzzles me is, we have not introduced anything new in maybe 2 months now. No new fishes, plants, water composition or anything else. We change the water roughly once every week. Now that you mention it, we carried out a major (over 50%)water change about 10 days ago. Can this be the reason?

The other thing is, we are not noticing any symptoms other than this fish gasping for breath. On the other hand, the four peppermint platies seem to be doing fine.

The surviving platy is now a lot worse and we are fearing the worst.
