help white sludge

i have a 55 gallon tank that has been set up 8 weeks and i got white sludge in the tank.... please help...

Where is the white sludge? Have you been vacuuming the gravel and doing water changes on the tank?

okies
in my tank i have 3 oscars.
i had 4 live plants, but i took them out as they seem to be growing something that looked like white hair.
now i am faced with this white sludge thats all over the tank walls, fliters, heater and the fliter cartriges are caked with this white sludge.
i beendoing weekly water changes 30% of the water.
this white sludge is getting annoying...
