Help with gouramis !

this hasnt happend but as i bought my dwarf gouramis as a pair male/female. if one was to die would the other ??

I only had 1 gourami and he did fine by himself. They are pretty territorial so one should be fine

I have a 23g with 4 tiger barbs, 2 mickey mouse platies, and about 10 mickey mouse fry (2months old) I know I am overstocked but I make sure I do frequent water changes and monitor the numbers closely. I don't have my gourami anymore. He was my favorite though but once my mickey mouse got pregnant I decided I better not buy anymore new fish. I also have a 10g fry tank with the other 17 mickey mouse fry. Yeah she had 30 total and 27 survived!!! I am working on finding them homes now. They are just so stinking cute.
