In a few weeks after cycling my new 46 gallon tank Im wanting to get some nice new fish..my husband for some weird reason wants a pangasius catfish, I noticed after searching the net that Blue Araca and angel fish have the some water/ph/temp requirements as the catfish..
Would it be ok to have 2 angel fish or blue araca cichlids with one of these catfish?
I chose the blue araca because the site I looked at said they are hardy fish and good for newbies.
Im not a newbie to fish but I am to cichlids:)
We are looking for brightly colored cichlids that would be easy to look after and get along with the pangasius catfish.

Well the Iridescent Catfish can get to 20" Which is pretty big. It may not in a home aquarium but it is possible. So you would need to watch that.

I think either other fishy would be ok.

Only thing that might hamper the angel plan is their long fins, which might get picked at by the catfish.

Anybody else? (others give better advice than me) :D

You think they get 20 inches! They get a lot, lot bigger than that. Except most don't they die in aquaria of stunting. These things are really bred for aquaria, they're food fish, and I've seen plenty that are more than a metre long at a farm.
Stunting can be quite messy because while the fish stops growing externally, some of the internal organs continue to grow to 'full size'
