ok. i have a 100 gallon acrilic(spelling?) tank measuring (LxDxH) 48x24x20. it is still sitting in the garage, so these are just ideas. could i have the following in the tank if i do frequent water changes?:
1 blood parrot
1(2?) festivum(s)
5 swordtails(1 male, 4 female)
1 firemouth
3 clown loaches

i am still looking for a pleco that is around 7 or 8 inches long and some sort of large schooling fish. i would do the second festivum if i did not do the firemouth, any suggestions on which one?
i have also heard that blood parrots are aggresive, so could i include them? if not, how about a severum?
if nothing really works together, then can you all give suggestions on what to put in there? the only thing is that they have to be somewhat big and the swordtails are definately going in there, so we have to work around them.

another thing, if i did not put the firemouth in the 100 gallon, could i put it with a platinum gourami, a keyhole cichlid, a paradise fish, a siamese algae eater, 11 tiger barbs, 6 zebra danios and 3 sand loaches in a 65 gallon tank?
thanks so much:D! and sorry for the long post:eek:.

I would not mix cichlids with community fish, even in a very large tank you are kind of asking for trouble. I would probably choose either cichlids and put a cichlid tank together...or choose to build a community tank. I'd do some more research on which fish you want to put together to make sure they are going to be compatible.

thank you. i will leave the swordtails(figured out a different tank for them to go into) out then, but what about the clown loaches and festivums?i would like to breed firemouths, so would the blood parrot, clown loaches, festivums, and green phantom pleco( decided on this in another thread :)) be ok? what kind of schooling fish would be ok with those fish?

ok, so i know i want the following in my tank:
3 blood parrots. 2 firemouths(1 is in there already and am hoping to get another), and 4 angelicus loaches(all already in there).

i really want something else in there and like the look of severums, green terrors, convicts, jack dempseys, and angelfish.
can you all help me in stocking this tank? thanks so much.

so i could do 1 of everything or 1 of 1 thing? if i did 1 of 1 thing, i could do the 2 firemouths(both in there), 4 angelicus loaches(all in there), 3 blood parrot, and 1 convict.
i do like bichirs too, could i include 1 of those? which 1?
and i read that you need dither fish for cichlids to get them to stay out all the time. what kind should i put in there?
sorry for all the questions, i have never done cichlids before:eek:(except for dwarf cichlids*SUPERSMIL). thanks so much!

lol, thanks.
i have in there a male firemouth cichlid(always grumpy and looking for a fight*ALL*;Grover), 2 bp cichlids(love these 2, full of personality;Tyler and Cleo; unsure of sexes), and 4 angelicus loaches(zipping around the tank as always; Mo,Curly,Larry, and Bob). i love them all so much:D. the only thing i know i will be adding is a second firemouth, preferrably female. otherwise i am open to suggestions!

lucky you! I wish I had spare tanks laying around :p
by the way, it's spelled acrylic. Good luck, and have you tried Aqadvisor.com? It's pretty helpful but sometimes there are some fish they say can get along but really wont; just be sure to do extra research!!

thank you for the spelling ValRasbora:) and yes, i have used aqadvisor. it is a very helpful sight. i have done so much extra research that my head is drowning in info. lol*laughingc
i got the 3rd parrot today!!:D love her! her name is Lilo!:p and i also got a jewel cichlid, which i named Rock. he is the most shy fish i have in there.
yes i am fully aware of the likelyhood of the loaches being killed. what if i left out the female firemouth? what else could i add? a green terror?

i will. i definately like the look of green terrors, so i am super excited!!
my jewel cichlid is always hiding and i dont know how to make him come out. there are 3 log figures, at least 15 different rocks, 3 terra cotta pots(2 large and 1 small), and a handful plants. so i have plenty of hiding places. my firemouth is very aggresive. he owns the whole tank. could he be bullying him?
