My archerfish has popeye!!!!! :'( I have him in a tank by himself with some tetracyline tablets. What else should I use? I don't want to lose this fish he is so cool!!!! I discovered his eye a few minutes ago and it was covered by a grey bubble. He was in my community what sould I do for them?? They already have some tetracyline in their tank too. Please tell me every thing you know about popeye!!! And what could I do about his panting its stress right?? How can I calm him down a bit. I put some of the slime coat stuff in the tank too.

There are so many theories as to the cause of PopEye that it gets quite confusing.
Gas embolism, Copper poisoning etc etc.
More common is gas embolism brought about by supersaturation such as when the water is drawn straight from the mains.
This causes the Bends.
It can occur in association with other common infections such as dropsy or ichthyosporidium.
Treat the fish as follows, reduce temperature slowly to increase the solubility of gas, reduce Aeration, and hope for a cure.
Please do not use Anti-biotics unless really needed,
all you do is slow down the fish ability to fight things off naturally.
Do not drop temperature below 66F.  8)
