help!

i recently noticed that my fish was sick with ick so i got medication. i read the directions and it said to to remove the carbon. i just took the filter out and let the water run through. i added 2 drops. and then im lost. what else should i do?
also, one of my guppies has black dots on its tail, is it not ick?

Ich looks like salt. You might get some floss to filter out detrius in the tank- other than that I woudl just follow the directions. There are several threads about dealing with ick here, some people recommend using salt and raisng your tank temp (slowly) to get rid of it.
