Ferdnan had a scale like sticking out this morning and its like dangling there. Should i be worried because ive heard that there's a disease that causes that and i dont wanna loose my little buddy! Let me know ASAP thanx

If its just one scale more then likely he ran into something and tore it from place. Keep an eye out though to be sure it does not get infected. W/O a pic its hard to know for sure.

Exactly what Kc said. 99% guess Id say a scratch or battle wound. I am figuring you are meaning the disease called "Dropsy's" from what I have read go get some maracyn-2 at the pet store if it does turn into Dropsy. Otherwise you could add MelaFix for bad scratches or "battle wounds" as I call them. It treats Damaged Fins, Ulcers, and Open Wounds. If its fairly minor just let it heal on its own. Minor scale damage usually heals within 5 days. If its worse than that get some Melafix.

I think he's fine, it was just one scale, i think it was scratched on a shell, he sleeps beside a shell and they're pointed in places.

Melafix will damage his labyrinth organ and he will drown. If you do feel he needs medication, use betafix and be very careful not to overdose. Good luck.

Even bettafix is bad...it is the same thing just diluted. Does the same thing to them. Clean water and aquarium salt if necessary is much better.

Bettas are a man-made fish, bred in captivity over hundreds of years. If the environment you have provided has pointed edges that can scratch him, you may want to rethink his tank's decor to keep him safe. Just as you wouldn't take a Mexican Hairless dog to live in the Canadian winter without protecting his skin from the cold.
