I finally got pics of my Orange Rainbow Cichlids :D They are pretty rare and Im excited to have them. In this link you can see the difference between the color morphs. Fish Info - Herotilapia multispinosa(Rainbow Cichlid) They are still very small and very skittish. I sat in front of the tank for about 15 minutes before they finally ventured out. Well enough chatting here are the pics:

You can see the L253 in the back

The Aquarium in Knoxville had several sub adults last time I was down there a few weeks ago Dino if you got up that way to check them out and didn't want to wait for these guys to grow out :) (edit: I belive they were the 'normal' color strain though)

Very cool fishgeek! I didn't know you had any of these guys. Do you have a breeding pair, or just get the fry?

Thanks :D I just got the fry from a guy off aquabid. I cant wait for them to grow and begin paring. I plan to try and keep 3 pair. It may or may not be feasable though. The guy I got them from doesnt see a problem with it but Ive heard otherwise. So we will see. I will be selling the ones that I dont keep and when I get fry I will sell those also. :D

I've never heard of an "orange" rainbow before...your guys are very pretty, but they look like regular rainbows to me. Identical to my little guys when they were that small...this is what mine currently look like, starting to get a bit more colour to them now:

I finally got a chance to go to an american pet store, it was a petsmart in Joplin Missouri. They had rainbow cichlids there, but I've never heard of them before now, are they rare? I like the pic that sinister kisses showed. They also had bolivian rams, are these more hardy than the german blue rams I take it? I opted to try some black convict's for now, in my 35 gallon, they are only about an inch themselves, I picked up 3 of em. Pics will follow.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to stop myself from jumping on those! :D
It's really good to see someone else picking up the line. I always worry they won't be around when I can finally have them.
I can't wait to see how your guys color up. One of these days I'll have to relent. They're gorgeous fish! *thumbsups
Looking forward to updates!

Yes Sinister and CMan. It is a real morph and a natual one at that. They look do look identicle to the yellow ones but they are orange. ;) There is no difference in body shape or any thing and they do have the black stripe.

Dino or Straightjacket who wants dibs on the odd guys that I sell after Ive got my pairs?? :D

Tell ya what,
I will trade lasiancistrus fry on an even basis with you.

To my knowledge there are only 3 breeding pair in the country, and 2 of them live in my fishhouse.
