Homemade TankDivider/Breeding Nets

I'm somewhat new to the whole fish thing, but I'm just wondering if using a window screen as a tank divider or breeding net. I have a 10 gal tank, UG filter, 1 algae eater, 2 neon tetras, 1 female fancy guppy, 1 male double swordtail. Will the screen contaminate the water? ( Ithink the screen is metal, cuz they make plastic ones)

why do you want a divider for your 10g? for babies? they do make tank dividers -- tehy're like $5.00 at your LFS, fyi.

yes the screen would probably contaminate the water.what exactly is your "algae eater"? a plecostomus? if so, they really arent suited for a 10 gallon tank, even smaller ones. also, tetras are schooling fish. they are best at about 5 or more. why are you looking for a breeder net or divider?
