they should have a cold water tank with lots of water movement, preferebly a powerhead, as for food i believe they just eat stuff off the bottom, they are not algae eaters, you could try some bottom feeder foods and see if they like them

They need to be kept in fast flowing water, a strong current and a highly oxegenated tank is nescessary. I am not sure what they eat, but they do preffer colder temperatrues than most tropical fish, low 20's (Celsius) to high teens.

Thanks for the info. I'm wondering the PH they perfer and what they eat too. I have had these guys for about a month, though still seemingly health, i don't know what they're eating. They eat algae, but there isn't much in my tank. Not enough to feed 3, but they don't seem to be minding. Just wondering if there was something I could suppliment.;)

Also, they seem to like to eat sinking pellets, I have heard anything from shrimp, to blood worms, to algea, so I guess they will end up eating no mater what you put in there, I could be wrong though. See what it decides to eat in your tank.

yes, i do have a hong kong loach in my 65 gallon. ive only had him for about 2 1/2 weeks, so i still dont know much. he pretty much hides around the back and in the driftwood. i see him about once a day. i have heard that they NEED cold water, but i have heard of one in a tank with discus, being very happy. i have mine in a temp of about 78 degrees, and he is fine. they can be in a tank as small as a 10 gallon, as long as there is good filtration (they poop like crazy) and the tank isnt crowded. i think they get about 4 in. max size
