OK so for my first question, i want to get a hood for my 20g. it currently has a lighting unit that sits across the top (hangs over each side by about 5cm) so it will be too big to fit inside a hood if i get one. I have a aquaclear 50 HOB filter. Im asuming if i want to get a hood to fit my tank and have a place for my HOB Filter im going to need to make it myself? Or can i buy a cheap enough one online with a space for the HOB? And id need to install lighting if i make one.I realy have no idea how to do any of this! My partner would have to do it if i had a good simple plan to follow. I would prefer to buy one premade with lighting that would fit, if i can find a cheap enough one that has a space for my HOB?

Second question i would like to get an internal filter for the 14g with an udjustable flow. The one that came with the tank doesnt have an adjustable flow and is too strong for the betta.I have some cloth wrapped around the intake atm but id prefer to get one that adjusts so i dont have to have the ugly cloth on it. If anyone knows of one i could purchase online thats not too expensive it would be greaty appreciated. :)

You can get a standard hood & light combo for not to expensive and it should have room for your HOB filter. For an Inside tank filter for your 14 gal, about anything will work with a light current, ive known many betas who lovbe currents. Mine did.

I got 2-24 inch incandescent hoods for my 55 gallon fish tank at big ALS aquarium supply. Just replace the light for florescent. These hoods are good for standard 20 gallon fish tank. I have an aquaclear 110 and fit perfectly. I hope that helped!

Thanks I had a look at hoods you mentioned online thats exactly what im after but now to find one online in Australia, i love living in the country but not being able to go to an aquarium shop makes things harder i have to do all online shopping or wait untill i go on hols to the city or something.Im worried tho if i do order a hood online it might not fit and i cant just take it back and swap it.

I see. We have a lot big corporate pet shops and LFSs here but finding an inexpensive incandescent hood is a rarity, so online was my only choice. Australia is one beautiful place!

I could measure my tank and see if i can find one that will def fit, So ive been looking online at different internal filters. But id realy appreciate it if you know one that definatley has an adjustable flow that would be suitable for the male betta? haha yeah Australia is great!
