After many months of small disputes, Hoover (the L001) has finally more or less defeated Cheney (the Common) for ownership of my 40 gallon tank.
Recent duels have left Cheney pale and with torn fins. Out of his best interest, he was removed from his 40g home yesterday and placed in my 3g with my goldfish to provide a safe place for recovery. Over the next week, he shall be treated with Melafix and provided with lots of tasty algae wafers. As long as he's doing well by the end of the week, he shall be transfered to a new home in my friend's new 40 gallon tank we set up over the weekend where hopefully he will make a full recovery.
The lesson? Don't give two territorial fish political names and expect them to get along for long periods of time in closed quarters.
