does anybody here know how to get two different/unrelated species of cichlids to crossbreed and have a successful spawn? And if so which cichlids would be ideal?????

I was thinking a convict as one.............

Any help would be greatly appreciated

P.S. My frankenfish would stay in the household;)

I dont know if it would be possible. But that would only produce a hybrid like the parrot fish, which is a cichlid i believe. So if you did get 2 different species of cichlids to breed you would produce a sterile hybrid fish.

Much like a horse and goat mating to produce a sterile mule.

what happens if you have a cichlid with a scientific name of let's say........ Archocentrus nigrofasciatum, and it's "synonym(s)" is Cichlasoma Nigrofasciatum???
Would the synonym also mean that it's related to a Cichlasoma cichlid(synonym or scientific name????)

I'm asking about the relations because i'll have more success that way IMO;)
