ok gang, Im trying to think ahead.  In the spring, we are building a new house, which means all the fish tanks are going to have to move.  In my 55 gallon, I have my Oscar, a pinpicutus (sp?) cat, and a spotted sail fin pl*co.  When we move, I am going to buy a new 55 gallon setup (which means I'll then have an extra 55!!  woohoo!!), and prepare it for my Oscar and friends.  But my question is, how am I going to move my oscar?  Ive never seen a net big enough for him!  lol.  I was hoping you all would have some suggestions.

If budget allows, I may buy another 38 to make the move easier on my commuity tank.....or maybe I'll just get 2 more 55g!!!

When I moved (no oscar but, a red devil). I used a pond net for mine and a 5g bucket full of his water. Also belted him in the seat next to me. Hope this helps a little. the pond net worked great and they don't seem to see it either(black).

I have a 55 gallon too... as well as some other tanks....
but..... I saw this 65 gallon the other day... just like
55g but 4 inches taller...  Price was $159.
If I was going to get another 55g, I would get one of
those......

Good luck in your move.

Drain water until there is only 3-4" left, then use a cooking pan or bowl to scoop it up.

That's how I always catch my fish if I have to redo the tank.  It's easier to catch when there is only a few inches of water left.

No.... this tank was 4" taller....
They are custom made down
here in South Florida.

I am sure about the dimensions....
because I would want to use my
existing equipment, i.e., canopy
with power compacts etc..

In talking with the owner of the lfs
he says ppl don't ususally buy them
since the cost of a 55g w/lights is
only $100. He will only keep one in
stock for that reason. The lights
that came with my 55g are gathering
dust in a corner somewhere.

i had to move two silver arrowanas about 20" long give a tke a few inches but they didn't have a fish net big enough and did i also mention they were in a 30gal? well anyways they were my friends and she been having trouble getting rid of them so my cuz took them off her hands and when we had to take them out fisrt one jumped out when we tried the tiny net and was no fun trying to pick up a large fish kickin around, well second on i figured use a trash bag like a big net since it's in a small tank i just cornered the second one and eventually he swam into the bag and i took the bg out, was kinda heavy since there was a couple gal of water in it good thing i work out
anyways try a trash bag and corner the fish and eventually u can lure it in to the bag make sure u use a heavy duty black trash bag it's dark and the fish will be less stressed in transportation and it's very strong
