how bout a ray?

well u can see below by whats listed what i have as far as fish and tank size and so on. my gf saw a 4 inch ray today at the lfs and im just wondering if it would be ok in my tank?

Nope. I havn't heard of a freshwater ray getting under 10" in diameter. It needs a lot of open swimming room and bottem room And they are SA and would not be good with African cichlids.

I think it would struggle. They get quite large and require large areas of swimming space with no rocks to obstruct them, plus I'd be scared of the africans nipping it. What substrate do you have - if crush coral , then no, no way , bare bottom or soft fine sand for these, else they'll get rubbed and sore, and die of bacterial infection of the wounds

He has sand in the bottom of his tank...it would be perfect for a ray...but I don't think it would be a good mix with the fish you have. Would be neat though. Maybe you can get another gigantic tank just for the ray
