Do you have a filter? If not, get one. Buy a box of replacement filters too, because they dont last more than a couple weeks.
Get a scrub brush on a handle so you can clean the algae that will grow on the sides of the tank. (Getting some ****** fish helps too; they will eat some of it and keep your tank fairly clean.)
Every 6 months or so, you should probably drain about half the tank and replace it with fresh water. Take all the rocks and fake plants out and clean them separately. (NO bleach or harsh cleaners though. If you dont get it all off by accident it could kill all your fish.)
