well on my eheim 2213 I'm having trouble with the out flow tubing getting kinked when it goes over the back and into the tank. Heres a pic for more detail. How would you guys/gals fix this problem?

I'm not sure the diameter of the hose for the 2213, but my 2028 has a plastic elbow piece that goes over the lip of the aquarium. You might try to find a piece that would work either from the Eheim website or www.drsfostersmith.com

You could also create your own PVC elbow.

If that doesn't pan out, you can buy a piece of conduit and try to bend it to support your hose. Ideally, you would want to Mandrel bend it. Mandrel pipe bending is a method where there are no wrinkles in the pipe bend, keeping almost 100% throughput. This is most popular with muffler (vehicle exhaust) shops. The machine to do it with is expensive, so look for a blingin' muffler shop.

I have the exact same problem with the 2226's small output hose but it kinks right as it comes off the filter
Easy solution cut the hose shorter.
Or wrap duct tape around the kink. thats what I did for my python.

Duct Tape.

you could get a flexible spring thats a bit larger than the tube to fit over it .. that should stop the kinking not over the whole hose .. just where the kink is

i have the same exact kink in the same place,
i just took some florist wire (its green), and wrapped it around the tube at the kink
it keeps the tube round where the kink is, instead of bent
this may be more attractive than the duct tape idea,
the green matches
hope this helps!

Eheim supply a shepherd's crook rigid pipe;

if your tubing is 12mm the part number is 400471
if your tubing is 16mm the part number is 400571

alternatively the standard U shaped "inlet" rigid pipe is cheaper:

12mm 7272210
16mm 7275800

you're talking about US$5-10 here.

The Eheim part is definitely the way to go.

But one more alternative: I use a syphon tube with a piece of straight rigid rubing. The flexible hose tends to bend where they connect. So I got a piece of oversized, fairly rigid tubing and slipped over the tubing/pipe at the joint. Works well.
