whats is the average time that a bettas will spawn? i have left my male and female bettas with each other fro about 9 hours adn still nothing. my male doesnt bit e the female (i thought that was strange) and everytime my female tries to spawn the male flares at ehr and she swims for her life.

It can be anywhere from 15 minutes to a week. Mine usually spawn after the second day. After one week I pull them out because I need to recondition them.

how do you get them to spawn? how big of an aquarium do you need? what kind of conditions do they have to be in?

These are great sites that have spawning sections. They cover the basics of spawning and genetics. To answer your question right off the bat, you need a 10 gallon aquarium filled about 1/4 up with water . You need to have a sponge filter, heater, plants, and a cup/indian almond leaf/bubblewrap to protect the bubblenest. However, this is only the beginning of setting up a spawn, so I suggest you research way before you plan to spawn.

whoa, indian almonds are quite costly! but arent they mostly used for heals? well anyways, i heard they can also take up to a month. just wait, if they feel right, then it will happen. remember, bettas always dont HAVE to breed. if they do not want to, they wont, if i were you i'd just take them away a week later, wouldnt want them to kill...

well just to let you guys know im also breeding my bettas and here is a picture of the indian almond leaf and the bubbles
