How many african cichlids can i have???

How many african cichlids can i put in a 55 gallon. And what types of africans would u suggest i get???

For Mbuna i like to do an average of 12-15 in a 55gal. But you must also consider some species of mbuna and factor in their aggressiveness.

My suggestion is to go here and pick out some you like and then you can narrow the search down a bit.

Cynotilapia afra (Chewere),Labidochromis caeruleus, Melanochromis vermivorus ,Melanochromis chipokae, Labeotropheus trewavasae, Tropheops sp. "Red Cheek", Pseudotropheus sp. "Williamsi North, Pseudotropheus sp. "Elongatus Ruarwe",Pseudotropheus crabro, Metriaclima sp. "Zebra Chilumba" (Maison Reef)
Would some of these be good to get???

I cant say for sure, but those sound fine to me (and my limited knowledge of malawi cichlids)

Sounds good to me, lots of striped fish, which i like too, just not sure if any are conspecifc and would go after others that look like their own kind.

Some of those species might be hard to find with local sources, might have to take to the net to get them.
