If I've got my eye on two different types of Angels for my 55g, would they get along with eachother or are Angels better left getting one? I'm looking into a Black Lace/Veil and either a Marble or Koi. Should I make sure to sex them or what? Other inhabitants will include a few Rainbowfish, possibly 2 Silver Dollars, 2 common plecos (4- 5" and 3-4") and possibly 3 Network Corys. Not looking to breed, just to make them as comfortable and happy as possible.

I keep 3 in a 46 gallon tank, along with 3 Red Hook silver dollars, a kribensis and 2 gouramis.

Angels are hard to sex, so I cannot give you any advice there.

Keep us posted on your progress.

I cant really say that you should get more fish with those two plecos in there.. I don't know much about silver dollars but angels should be in either already made pairs, in larger groups (5ish) or solo. They can get mean to each other if in small groups (3) and if they pair up they can harass the loner. Made pairs are best but again can get aggressive when they no doubtly spawn. They are hard to sex but the male will get that bump on his head when they get older.

Okay. I may try just one. I'm not too worried about overstocking, as it is an empty tank. The only fish that I have currently that will definitely be in there are my Plecos. I'll let you know, because it's getting close to time ;).

Having different colorations of angels should not be a big deal. And you can't really sex them until they are breeding. The only issue you may have if you get a few angels, is if 2 pair off. They will get very territorial.

Are you saying that having two different types of Angels will prevent pairing up and beating up? If so, is it best to just stick with two, or should I increase to a 3-5 school and x-nay some of the other fish on my "wish list?"

No, sorry. A male and female might pair up no matter what type they are. It may not happen. I had 4 marbles in my community tank with swords guppies and mollies. Some how I ended up with 2 pairs. I ended up moving them out because they got too aggressive when they had eggs. It is probably something you should just make sure that you watch out for. And have an extra 20g waiting, lol

Yeah, I don't have the room for another tank (and we're looking to buy our 1st home- so I don't want another to break down) for quarrling Angels :D. I'm okay with one. When we get 100% settled, I'll get adventurous ;). Thanks for the advice. I was trying to research them, but never really found a difinitive answer.

Angels of different colors do not matter. They don't see each other as different because of their color. They are the same species if you get them from the fish store. If you do get multiples worry about pairing up they will get fiesty. I actually just bought two the other day. If they don't end up pairing off and they are aggressive towards each other I will return one, but who knows. I know the odds of two pairing off is extreme, but there is a small hope. But who knows. Angels can be very aggressive make sure there are no fish the size of a neon tetra, they might munch on them.

LadyLail check out Fosters and Smith online. They have a good selection of angels. Even if you don't buy from them, it will give you some good ideas.
