How many cardinals to start?

I wanna try and get a mated of banggai's they will be going in my 29 until I find a 40g breeder tank.. How many should I get 3 or 4? Or just go with 2 and hope they are male and female?

If I remember correctly they can be sexed based off their jaw structure. Unless you know what your looking for you'd need to see a tank full to compare though.

Males should have a "blocky" facial structure. Ideally you'd want just a pair, otherwise they may beat up any others in the tank. Also having a seperate tank for the male on occation isn't a bad idea. The females can be a little... Amazon .

It disappeared? Im sure its in there somewhere.. Yea Chris I knew how to tell em apart but like you say you would need to see a tank full of em.. I called around and a store by me has 5.. Im sure theres got to be at least 1 male in there..
