how much light for frontosa

i've notice tha when i put the light on in the tank my frontosa hide. when the light is not on they are swimming around. does anyone have any idea of how long should the light saty on?

Front's come from some of the deeper parts of Tanganyika so a little dimmer light is *usually* (but not always) better for making them comfortable. It's not so much about the amount of time the light is on but the intensity of the light.

What size tank and what lighting are you using?

How new are the fish? This can also factor in. They might just need to settle in. But yes Fronts come from deep in Lake Tang, so the lesser the light the more they would feel comfortable.
