how would you recommend i move fish from one tank to another? not transfer a whole tank into a new tank, but take a fish out of one and put him in a second. im drawing a blank on how to acclimate him without having him in a bag from the lfs

Ziplock; or waterchange bucket, with water being dripped into it out of a air-line turned syphon (With some way of limiting flow).

If you keep the tanks at the same ph,temp, and ect. Then I would just net the fish and put him in the other tank. This is what i did a few weeks ago and it was a success. The only hard part was to catch the damn zebra danios.

i just transfer them from tank to tank with no problems. but i always check the temp and make sure its the same between the 2 tanks.

To catch danios, forget using the net. hold a glass sideways in the water and the curious danios will swim inside to check it out every time.

Good timing, I just did this yesterday.

I transfered 16 fish and 2 frogs from my old 20g to my new, super deluxe 46g bowfront.

I got the 46g to 7.0 ph, the 20g was a little low at 6.8.

Temp was within 4 degrees.

I put some Aqua-safe in the 46g to help with the stress. Bio-coat works well too.

1. I got a large bowl and put about 16 ounces of water from each tank in it.

2. Then I got 3 to 4 fish, let them sit in the bowl for about 15 minutes, then put them in their new home. I like to cover the bowl to keep them from jumping out.

3. Dump the water from the bowl.

Go back to step 1 and repeat till done.

No lost fish, color is great, all very happy.
