HUGE Yellow Lab (All Malawis for that matter!)

I was out making sales calls yesterday & saw a (must have been) 100g tank w/ Malawi's in it. There may have been a few Tanganyikans in it. Anyway, what really caught my eye was a Yellow lab that was literally the size of one of those smaller footballs. You know, not the regular-sized (NFL) one, but the next size down. Its width was not that size but its profile was. All of the fish in there seemed bigger than normal, but that guy really caught my attention. Has anyone ever heard of Yellow labs getting that big?

I've seen them get to about 6" before.

The largest lab I've seen is about 4.5 inches, but I've heard of several that have reached about six inches as Cichlid-Man stated. Must have been a beautiful tank to see all those malwians at full size. Something you rarely see in the hobby...

This guy was AT LEAST six inches! It wasn't just his length, it was his overall size. I'm tellin' ya, the fish in this tank were HUGE! It was a GORGEOUS set up! I'm actually thinking of taking another drive over there for my lunch break just to get another look & to make sure I'm not telling a "fisherman's tale." Yep, I will! I'll report back later on...

Yes i've seen some i bought some fry from a guy who is in my local fish society he had his malawi's in a 150 gal and he had some monstrous yellow labs in there twice the size of mine and super fat to they looked so healthy to bad it was set up in his unfinished basement so nobody could see it

I have a male Yellow Lab that's about the size of my hand, I would say 6" would be a fair estimate. 45g species tank. The little buggers breed like crazy...

I've seen some huge yellow labs too.

One of the better LFS's here in Lincoln has a display tank with just mbuna's in it, and their labs are HUGE!!!! (all of them are huge!!, there have got to be a few in there that are as big as my hand...)
