WOHOO! I went to Petco today and got a male betta... I almost got a periwinkle one, but then looked down and saw a CROWNTAIL! He's steel blue with a little bit of red splash on him. His caudal tail was nipped/ had rot but is growing back already. He's beautiful!!!! My female is going nuts over hi, cuz they're in a divided tank! But I'm really POed at Petco cuz the care label on the betta cups says to feed the bettas "sparingly" and to do it "2-3 times a week". Yes, WEEK!!!! You're supposed to feed them 2-3 times a DAY!!! aaaaaaaaagh... stupid petco... anyway, I hope Tovi will eat again cuz she was depressed cuz Merlyn went away (well, died, but I dunno if she can figure that out or not)

ty, tramca. She's definitely eating again. And drimels, how would YOU like to be fed 3 times a week? My other betta was fed 3 times a day 2-3 pellets each time. I had him for over 6 months and he was pretty healthy until my female betta gave him ich and he died. He didn't have too many problems and lived through the ones he had! I think feeding them several times a day builds up their stamina!

still, pet store fish aren't wild and probably never were! You all can feed your fish whenever you want, but I'm sticking to keeping them healthy and full!

I also feed my betta (and other fish) several times a day. I usually give him two or three pellets at a time. Let me tell you, does he get grouchy when I'm late too! I imagine it is fine to feed several times a day, as long as you don't overfeed each time. And it's true, they are no longer wild and adaptations need to be made to account for that...On a side note, PetQuarters told me to feed my dwarf frog once a week...and flakes at that! People who sell the animals need more knowledge before they keep giving such false information.

exactly! I saw these little bowls the size of the cups that they sell the males in by the bettas... it's cruel to keep them in those things! Mine are in a divided 5 gallon and when I just kept one betta in it, he loved the space! They really can't show off their beautiful color or fins unless they are fed several times a day and kept in fair sized tank!
