I have a big problem!

Sorry for all the threads but i seem to have run into a problem with the hermits being added, there has been an ammonia spike! it is at .25 right now. This only happened after i added the hermits, is it normal to have a spike when you first add live stock to the tank?

not really with something like the hermits...if you added a bunch of fish at once or something i could see that happening, but not in this instance

tank maybe going through a second cycle...hermits might be ok though.

ok i just tested again and there is no color now! it says there is no ammonia! could the reading change because i rinsed it out in tap and may not have gotten all the water out? i am realy confused right now!

thats one possiblilty. Just test it again tommorow and if its 0 your fine

ok, this is my first big project i i thought i screwed up, the funny thing is it should be cycled by now. it was cured rock and only took about 15 minutes to get it in the tank.

sometimes tanks will go through a second cycle, usually shorter...any clean up crew should be fine...just give it a while before adding anything else.
