That wonderful company Marineland. I called them today with a question about my Eclipse System 6 filter. Way back awhile ago there was a power outage and all my fishtanks were down for a couple of hours. Well, when everything started up again, the Eclipse 6 didn't. I jiggled it and played with it a little bit, and it got to running, but every time I shut it down, it wouldn't start back up again without a good shake.
Well, I figured it had finally burnt out. No shake I was giving it was making this thing run again. I figured I'd have to shell out big time for a replacement part. I call up the Marineland customer service, and instead of saying "sure, we'll ship the part for such and such a price" the woman, Irene, told me how to take it apart and clean the impeller. Seems like a simple thing, and as soon as I did that, it started right up again without a hitch. Heck, it's even running better than it had.
Yeah, so cleaning the impeller should've occured to me, but I'm one of those aquarist who are more biologically than mechanically inclined. Sure I clean out the intake tube, but it didn't occure to me that the impeller could be removed from the housing because everything looks so neat and tidy wrapped up in that compact little box.
So, I just have to say my piece about Marineland. Great products, wonderful customer service, could not be happier with any other aquatic supply company. I hope I'm not breaking any laws or anything, nor do I intend for this to be any form of advertising. I just wanted people to know that while we might complain about certain company/products, it is quite alright to also say the good things now and again just to keep it interesting.
