I have alot of guppies big and small and I also have a pleco that is about 8 inches long and I noticed that the pleco tried to eat one of the small guppies. What should I do? I've had the pleco since it was 2 and a half inches long I dont want to get rid of it but if I have to to protect my guppies I guess I will need to. Please Help.

The pleco tried to EAT your guppy!!!!!! holy cow!!!

My my moms friend had a pleco that was over a foot long in with some baby cichlids it could have engulfed and the cichlid actually like to hide UNDER the pleco, it was so funny. They got along fine, i have never in all my 3 years of fish keeping heard of a Pleco trying to eat a guppy, are you sure? id suggest, you feed him more then to keep his apitite down.

I Googled this and apparently others have had problems with plecos eating their smaller fish and/or also sucking their slim coat off. Seems it happens at night when other fish are "sleeping" and therefore slower to react.

HappyFish- that is a given ;)

Your pleco WILL get bigger and bigger. They get 18", and 24" isn't unheard of. I really wish petstores would mention this before selling 2" fish to people -_- ugh.
Anyways, Your pleco will keeping trying to eat your guppies. He needs to be rehomed into a bigger tank- at least 55 gallons!
