I was at Petsmart and a guy came in with a large red devil. (hes suppose to be a true red devil but....) He said that he was beating up his other fish. Well the fish himself looked great other than being a bit stressed, I started talking to the guy and asking him questions. He told me that he had the RD in a 55G tank with an Oscar, Redtail Catfish, and a Convict........hmmm.....let me think......WHY ARE PEOPLE SO IGNORANT WITH PETS!!! Sorry. Im better. The poor guy had been cramped in this tank and I felt so bad for him and my 90G was open for him so I said why not. (My 90G tank crashed, but I dont want to talk about it, I was stupid) Now he has my 90G tank all to himself, well except for the plecos but they arent in his way.

Pics coming soon.....

He's cute...different colour, more of a peachy than orange. Good on you for the rescue, I'm sure he'll be very happy in the 90gal :) He's not a pure Devil from what I can see, despite what the guy claimed, he's likely a mix of the two like almost all LFS devils or midas at this point - not that there's anything wrong with that! You're going to adore him very shortly :D

Thanks Sinister :p I didnt think he was pure. Hes so funny. He loves attention and likes it when I go to the tank. His color has been changing since hes been in my tank today, hes been getting more orange. He was a pink white color when I got him in the tank. And I dont think that he has stopped swimming :D

O and Katie, Kaiser actually means ruler. LOL ;)

I turned down the chance to have a white blue eyed Midas today (which I was gonna get today before the guy came) to save this guy :D

Congrats on the pick-up! You were at the right place at the right time. I owned a "Midas" for a while and he turned out to be a great pet. I think you'll really like him! I really don't know the differences between a Midas or a RD, but IMO, they'd both make great pets.

Kaiser's a nice-lookin' fella!
I love that 3rd pic where he's facing the camera---reminds me of the 'monster' called 'Pinky' from the DOOM movie (and video game), lol. :p

Those former tankmates of his are lucky...with a little more size to him and a lot more attitude, I have no doubt that he would have ended up seriously injuring and/or killing them---especially the oscar. Oscars are big wusses (shhh...don't tell Triton  ).

Thanks BV and yes they are big wusses :p Kaizer is doing very well and seems like hes having a blast in all the room he has in the 90G. Hes about 8ish inches give or take right now and I can only imagine what that guys tank looked like. I mean he said that he did his water changes but he added all sorts of chemicals to the tank that werent needed (like ammonia lock, algae fix, he said just to be safe and a water clarifier) and ugh it makes me sad.

I think that I am gonna spell his name like this Kaizer instead of with the s. :p

Sinister I need your help. ;) Kaizer isnt interested in food. It doesnt matter what I put in there. He has eaten 2 feeder fish that are in with him and he has eaten the head off another. But he didnt chase them down to eat them it was more of your in my way type of thing. Why is not interested in other food. Are they generally interested unless its live?? I dont want to feed him feeders all the time. I got these to deter him from my plecs for the inroduction.

DO NOT feed him feeders, unless you have your own feeder guppy supply that you breed at your house. You'll likely kill him; feeders are full of parasites and diseases that they pass on.

I'd feed him Hikari Cichlid Gold or Bio-Gold. Best foods IMO, and very good at naturally bringing out orange and red colours.

He's not eating because you just moved him in to a new home ;) He needs time to adjust. I'd stop feeding him completely for a few days, then try a bit to see if he's interested or not. Also, depending on what he was being fed (if I had to guess, I'd say feeders quite a lot) from his previous owner, he may be picky about new foods. The solution is simply to starve him. And I don't mean for a couple days - at least a week. If he still won't take what you're offering, give him another week. Some people imagine this is cruel, but he's a fish - they can go for months without eating. He'll be fine. It just gives him enough time to realise he gets to eat what he's given. Once he tried the Hikari, he'll probably love it anyway - my monsters won't eat anything but. They even refuse krill.

Ok. I dont like feeders myself either except for a treat here or there, I got these for distraction. Ive got the Omega One Pellets (two sizes), but I havent tried Hikarri, I will have to get some. Thanks.

Lol pfew ;) I lost one of my first Midas to an internal infection due to eating a sick feeder (back when I was young and didn't know better!), I don't like seeing it happen to others ;) There's really no logical reason to use feeders anyway, he'll get all the nutrients he needs from a good food. The stuff you have will work, I'm just a huge fan of the Hikari. It will help him brighten up more, so will Krill as an occasional treat.
