that a good idea JW but keep in mind in the wild a pair of Mbuna usually cordon off a spot about 2 or 3 square metres (they are called Gardenkeepers or something.. they keep a square of algae growing on a rock just for themselves. it's in Ad Konings book). if you want to really have fun get a massive tank (200+ gallons) and throw in a harem of Copadichromis, one male and 5 females,,,,,, and just add a big rock at one end and a whole lot of sand.
from what I recall diving in Lake Malawi this same situation above (1 male and a bunch of females) happened every 100 square metres or so.
