okay i have noticed a white dot on my gold serverum's side fin. it is the only dot that he has and no of the other fish in my tank have any white dots. i recently just got him on saturday (ll/18) and got him from a LFS that has a very good reputation (they have the largest selection of FW and SW fish in southwest FL). anyway he has had this dot since he have brought him home. so i was just wondering if it could be a coloration of his fin or is it ICK. like i said it has only been one dot on his fin sense saturday and none of my other fish in my tank have any signs of white dots on them. i have had this tank for a little over a month (it was an established tank before i got it) my water parameters are...

ph- 7.6
ammonia- 0ppm
nitrite- 0ppm
nitrate- 10ppm

By "side fins" do you mean pectoral, pelvic, or anal fins?

How big is the spot? Ick looks like a slightly largish grain of salt.

i dont know what the side fins are called i do know that its not the anal fins or the one on the top of its body but the ones on the sides of him (but only one of them has a the white dot). and the size of the white dot is about the same and a tip of a ball point pen so i guess that is the size of a grain of salt.

I'd say if you suspect it is, then just begin treatment w/ heat.
Slowly increase the temperature of the water to 85-88 degrees.
Then monitor the situation and see if it disappears after a short while.

i have already started increasing my heat. but my temp is still at 80 i guess i should turn my heater up a little more. i don't want to be drastic about it.

1 degree a day will be fine.

If it is ICH or you think it is... Raise temp and if you have aquarium salt add that as well. I had a loach with ICH, i raised temp and added salt within two days the spots were healed and he is back to good health again.
