I WANT ALGAE!!!!!!!!

Everyone is always complaining about algae in this site and I can understand why. I want some algae for my pl*co. All I feed him is algae wafers. I tried all other veggies (zuchinni, lettuce, ect...) but he won't touch anything but his damn algae wafers. I feed him wine and T-bone steaks and he would rather have bread and water!!!!!!!!!!

How can I get algae for my pleco?

How can I break off of the bread & water??????????

You can put some plant ferts in there, I bet then you will have plenty of algae.

No algae is good - don't start growing algae just for your pleco. He probably wont eat most of it anyway.

Try blanching the zuchini/cucumber before you add it... He'll love it. Also make sure you've got some driftwood in the tank for him

ya...he would only like a few types of algae...and most likely the ones you wont get. You'll probably get spot, staghorn and greenwater *L*

what do you mean no algae is good.i have seen algae used as filters,decorations,food.i like algae in my tank,just not bba or bga.
i'd love some of those marimo balls.

Basically toss em in boiling water for a few seconds to 'soften' them up. Works wonders

Mike - Yes algae can be useful in certain applications (Heck I've got a BIG Bunch of Hair algae growing in my fry tank - fry love to chew on it) BUT - Once you have algae its not the easiest thing to get rid of - therefore would it not be better to just save the trouble? Once its established, well thats a different story. But growing algae intentionally seems 'odd' if you know what I mean. Especially since most plecos wont eat all algae types.

I want some of those marimo balls too VERY COOL! Too bad they aren't available in canada.

considering that plecos are always sucking on something its safe to say that there is an algae presence in your tank. He is probabley eating it before you can visually see it.

Easy way to get Algae, in gods words.. LET THERE BE LIGHT! and You shall have alagae my son! how much algae you wants depends on how much light you put in!! Put in Tri-Phosphorous FLourescent Tubes and you shale have ALGAE ma main man!

I actually let algae grow on the back wall of my tank. It works well as a good backdrop as well it helps feed my algae eater when hes snacking.

i had a pleco who died cos i didnt have any agale for him.
