I'm kind of new at this fish thing, so if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a standard 5.5 gallon tank and it has cycled. I had 5 goldfish in the tank, and they seemed to be doing very well. About a week after they got there they developed Ich. Unfortunately 3 of them died. I was told 5 fish in a 5.5 gallon tank may have been too many, but I would like to replace at least 2 of them. How long should I wait to be sure that the Ich is completely out of the system?

Also, are there any other types of animals I can put in the tank with the fish (ie. snails, etc)?

Thank you all in advance

I would sugest 2 african dwarf frogs and maby 3 espes rasboras. This would be a nice setup. Goldfish eat and poop to much. I hate goldfish and i think of them as a trashy fish.

i know this dosent answer your question but if you keep stuffing goldfish in that small of a tank you'll probably keep having problems with illness

you should have about 10 gallons per goldfish

the are very dirty and they get to big for a five gallon

you didn't say what type of goldfish you have but they all get pretty big, fancy goldfish can grow to 8"+

i personally like goldfish but i think they'd look better and do better in a bigger tank say 30gal+ with one fish for every ten gallons

a five gallon would be nice for a betta with some smaller fish, frogs (not clawed) and/or snails

there's alot of things that you can do with a five gallon (ask people here for suggestions) and decide what you like most

just a suggestion...cuz with that tank stocked with the fish you have imo you'll be fighting illness, cloudy water and algae constantly

good luck with whatever you decide*thumbsups
