ICH outbreak, and day old guppys in the tank

#1
So far my day old baby guppies are doing well... i found 3 out of the 13 dead in the bottom of the breeder today, but i hope that is normal! my only BIG concern is that my fish tank has an outbreak of ICH right now, and i had a fish die today, and each time i check on my tank, my fish are more and more covered with this disease... i cant treat the tank because it will kill my fry, and my alge eater, and i have no spare tank the put the sick fish in to treat them...i have my water temp as high as it goes hoping it will kill it off... but am not very confident... do you know anything about this? or have any ideas? if all my fish die (other then my fry in the breeder) will that take care of the IKE? or will it still be in the tank even if i wait several weeks to get new fish.... every day i have been doing a 2 gallon change of water hoping that will help... i REALLY need to change my filter pad, but i check 2 BIG pet/fish stores (including petsmart) around my area and i cant find any replacement! so i have been just rinsing the pad with cool water the best i can, but every time i do this, more carbon falls out of the pad! oh dear, this is just a big mess!

Easy fix - stop using cartridges and start a DIY (Do it yourself) cheaper solution! It's all I do now, saved time and hassle.
Here is a link, I'm not sure what your filter cartridge is, but you get the idea....

Lotus posted this link a while ago and now its all I do. I also sometimes take some carbon, tie it up with old panyhose and plop it in between the grate and the polyester batting.
Also, make sure if you are rinsing the current one in "cool water" that the water is dechlorinated. I fill up a bucket with tank water and shake it in the bucket. It's gross but it does the trick :)

I think with the fry in there, the only think you can do to combat the ick is the heat and possibly some salt. If all the fish die, the ick will still be there, it doesn't live solely on the "hosts" (the fish).
