Ich questions?

I have looked at several places on this, but I dont recall an answer to this question. Does anyone have any idea about how long does it take before a fish shows any physical signs (i.e white spots) of having Ich? My female GBR has been acting funny for the past couple of days, especially since the male died. She swims around the tank with her tail fins clamped and will rub up against the decorations in the tank. I dont see any spots on her, and have never noticed a fish that rubs on something until the spots have appeared. Is this Ich or could it be something else? Neither of the white clouds in the tank are acting like this and show no signs of anything. Thanks in advance for any information.

It usually takes a few days for the spots to show up.

Have you checked your water parameters? Rams tend to be sensitive to pH and nitrates.

Thanks Lotus for answering. I thought about that and checked the nitrate, nitrite and ammonia levels in the tank. All were where they were supposed to be, I dont have a pH kit, but I have never had problems like this before. I have had her since March and this just started Sunday evening. I guess I will have to go get a pH kit as soon as I can. I will keep an eye out to see if/when any spots show. I really do hope its not Ich, but what else could it be?
