[glow=blue,2,300] [move] ICK CLEAR, stained my fishtank!!![/move][/glow]

I've done as much research on the internet as i can. Unfortunately I did not find as much info as i had hoped for.  A couple days ago, I found my fish with ick. so i ran to my LFS and bought "ICK CLEAR" from Jungle Labs. It was the tablet kind that did not require me to raise the tempurature.  It just instructed me to take out my carbon filter and drop the tablet in and watch the tablet fizzle  :p . the next day when i checked the status of the tank, i noticed all my silicon sealant inside is BLUE!   anything the blue dye could stick on turned blue  :'(  well turns out that later on all my fish died, for what reason im not sure of. :(  so now my tank is empty except for the blue dye. my question is:

??? how do i get rid of this annoying color off my aquatic equipment and silicon sealant?

??? what do i need to do to clean my tank to get rid of the "ick", do i use bleach and wash everything thoroughly?

thanks guys, i appreciate your time and help  :)

I don't think you can get rid of the blue stain that easily.  It's going to be there for awhile unless you strip of the silicone and add a new coat.

You can probably kill the ich parasite if everything in the tank including the gravel/ornaments used is disinfected with dilute bleach solution or boiled.

The blue stuff is pretty much there for a long time.  If it is on airline hose, I would simply replace the airline hose, that stuff is cheap.  The silicon sealent in your tank is going to be stained for a long while.  I know it does eventually wear off, I don't know how long that takes. If you're impatient, do what dattack said and simply strip and replace the sealent.

If you currently have no fish in your tank, boil and bleach -everything- and simply start over. Just know that every tank always has ich because the fish carry it with them all the time. Whether you have an outbreak or not is dependant upon how well you maintain the stability of the environment within your tank.

Well, I had the same problem with a new 10 gallon tank. I basically emptied it, fiiled it with warm water & soaked it with concentrated Clorox for a day or two. It removed almost all of it. If you didn't see it before tha stains, you would have never known it was ever stained. I was told it only works on fairly new tanks with fresh silicone sealant. Older tanks, or tanks that have been stained by ick dye over  & over again will need the sealant cut off & resealed.  ;D

Just add 1.5 - 2.0 tsp per gallon. Raising the temp will speed up the life cycle of the parasite, and therefore speed treatment, but it's not necessary.

When I need to treat ich (fortunately it's been a while), I change 20% of the water then add the salt, after that I just do regular weekly water changes. Eventually the salt is diluted to negligable levels.
