Ick problem

Mom thinks the 10 gallon is too big and she's trying to get me to use the 5 gallon at college. But I don't mind moving the 10 gallon a few times a year. By the time those fish get too big I may have my own place and get a bigger tank then. A few of my barbs are kinda breathing heavy. The temp is about 81. Is this normal?

Yay I got Ick Away And that white filter is a biofilter I believe. The filter is for a 10-20 gallon tank. So between the Ick Away, salt, and 83 degree temp, the Ick should be gone within a week right? Oh and I did remove the filters when I added the meds. (edit: just read that high temp make keep meds from working, so I'm going to remove the heater)
I have a few questions about Malachite Green. I read in one of those sticky articles that it's very dangerous stuff. So I've covered the aquarium with a large trash bag to keep the cats from playing in the water when they're allowed in the room. When the illness is gone, should I scrub all the plants, substrate/rocks, and the filter? And maybe the aquarium? Any other suggestions?
