Ok so I've been fighting ick in my tank for about a week and a half now, and yesterday it looked like it was almost gone. Today though one of my platy's, has a small outbreak on his side and also a small cloudy spot in in the middle of the ick spots. It's hard to describe it looks almost as if his slime coat is cloudy because at certain angles he looks perfectly normal. Is this from the ick, is it something else? Any help is appreciated.

arrrhhh.... it happened to me too, there seem to be tiny fungus on fish's body after most ick were gone. I put back the carbon in the filter and let the tank run a day or two (to get rid of the the ick medicine), then changed 1/4 of the water, added fungus clear. I think some becteria won't go away just by ick medicine, so fungus could be some problem.

What method are you using to treat the ich? I strongly recommend using the salt+heat method. It is the most effective, IMO, is cheapest, and less stressful on the fish.

The most important thing to remember about ich is to treat it for many days (say 2 weeks) after the last symptoms disappear; this is because of the life cycle of ich. It may look like it is gone, but it has merely gone into its cyst stage.

It is important to keep the water clean during this time to avoid secondary infections, such as bacterial or fungal outbreaks. It sounds like you may be experiencing such an outbreak.

Lol well thanks guys, but this was almost 2 weeks ago. The platy in question died I think he was just too weak to fight off the ick and other bacteria and stuff. I was using a medicine plus I turned my heat up and added aquarium salt.
