Hmm, unlike any Tanganyikan that I'm familiar with. If it is, it may be a type of featherfin, but if it is, you would know it because I'd say your wallet would be feeling some serious hurt right now. Thats all I can think of off hand.

The structure looks more like a Peacock to me. Any name given with this fish?

It looks strangely familiar however, but for the life of me can't place it.

Could be, depending on how aggressive he gets. I don't have a big brain when it comes to victorians, so i'm sure somebody like wayne who is experienced in all types of cichlids could really help you dig deep and get answers such as specific species, temperment, etc...

If i had to guess the species i'd say a young Hap44 (Haplochromis sp. "Thick Skin") ??

Good call C-man. I would say your right on the money with that ID.

I'm not sure how teritorialy aggresive Vic's are. Just a wild guess, but probably close to some of the mouthbrooders from Malawi. If this is the case then he may be the odd man out once the Tang's start to breed. Could be, but I can't say for sure. If you don't want to take him back now, then my best sugestion would be to keep on eye on him to make sure he isn't picking on the others, and they aren't picking on him.
