ID on this algae

hi to all,

this is my first post.

i've been getting this large blackish algae (is it even algae?) on the bottoms ever since i started keeping tubs with plants/fish 6 months ago and has also invaded my recently built 75 GAL tank. i've scoured the net and simply cannot find it anywhere, not even the indian sites. would you help me ID it please. i am in mumbai, india, btw.

Hi there. I just noticed this post and looked at the pic you included.

There are so many types of algae.
This looks to me like it may be cyanobacteria which is usually green/blue but it can be black too.
Try searching for cyanobacteria. I've read that it can be removed but not easily controlled.

Lotus is right I see the fish waste there too. I thought maybe the camera wasn't picking it up (alleged algae) too good.
If it is algae it will be slimy, hair-like etc and just gross looking.
Please keep us informed. I'd like to know what it is lol.
