Hello!
Well, I decided to give-up my goldfish to someone who has a nice yard pond and try my hand at Cichlids.
The tankwill be up in our dining room, in my 48" x 12" x 20" tank (50 gal). This tank has typical low lighting (2x30w) and I have two Whisper 40 filters on it right now, but I can add or remove filters as needed.
My tap water is a steady 7.8ph, and ithe tanks lowest wate temperature in that room is about 74F, but I will heat it to whatever the species likes.
I plan on using sand as a substrate, getting a pile of lace rock and stacking it up with a rock background OR getting some bleached coral and a blue background.
I would like a nice 4 to 5" cichlid species tank, something that will tolerate my pH and not outgrow my current tank.
I am not partial to rams (low pH and smaller bodies) so other ideas would be helpful.
