Ill Pearl Gourami?
I have recently been "away" from my home for an extended period. Approx 1 month. My tanks were left in the care of my husband, who probably let them go longer without food than I would normally do, but otherwise took greak care of them. Upon returning this week I've noticed a problem with my pearl gourami. Here are the details...
29g - non planted
Running for around 4 months, cycle was seeded from filter media from my 55g
Occupants include a few pest snails, 1 Pearl Gourami and one small Pleco. The tank is awaiting some Blue Moscow Guppies.
Temp 78 degrees
Nitrites and Nitrates are both in safe levels
Emperor 280 bio-wheel filter
The first thing I noticed is that the Gourami had a spot or two that looked a bit pale compared to the rest of the body. Upon closer inspection I noticed that the spots seem to be actually sections of missing scales. I immediately tested the water, which was fine, but I did a healthy water change none the less. Over the last few days the sections of lost scales have grown larger and some pale spots have appeared on the fins now as well. The Gourami's behavior and feeding habits do not appear to have changed and she does not seem to be in any destress. She does not appear to be scratching or bumping up against any of the driftwood.
Any Suggestions?
