Has anyone had actual plant growth using the screw in flouresant bulbs? Im having the hardest problem getting plant growth from them. I use the Lights of America 10 watts, and 20 watts, to equal 4wpg and 2 wpg on two of my tanks and i still get crappy growth. Anyone had ne luck?

Yeah i got the same but by Lights of America from Walmart, they are mad for aquariums and have 6700 K 10 watts. Still ive had bad results. Does plastic take away most of the intensity? I cant really explain my situation with this tank but it has two plastic covers and you need them both so the lights dont get damp from the tank. I guess i could work on a way to only have one plastic piece the light has to go through.

The 20 watts bulbs just seem to grow BGA, obviously my tanks are unbalanced. In one hood it has the white mylar that i think does a good job, but on another it just has the 2 metal strips that dont look like they reflect much at all so i put aluminum foil around so i hope that helps some.

some of it could be overfeeding/not enough water changes, but i am curious about the output spectrum of the bulbs you are using...around 6k is really best and many of the "warm" bulbs are more like 3500 to 4k which is not really high enough for anything but algae...

Yeah im not sure of the k rating of the 20 watt bulbs. But the 10's are 6700 so i know they are good. It could be from overfeeding. I feed frozen foods to often and tabs too often too. I plan on cutting down the food and doing a massive water change this weekend. Thanks for the help.
