Has anyone else been told at their LPS that algae eaters (of any kind) don't count against your inches?

I was feeling generous so I put a filter in the aquarium.

Thats not true...and more importantly it couldn't be any further from the truth. Many bottom feeders are just as messy or more messy than goldfish! They create a lot of waste. The only algae eater that I know of that I'd think of as "clean" are ottos.

yah... imagine if an 18 inch pleco didn't count for "inch v gallon" space. wouldn't that be nice....
