here's some info i found for ya..
"there are two types of Parrots(Green Parrot and Red or Blood Parrot). The Green Parrot is a cross between a Green Severum and a Green Terror. The Red Parrot is a cross between a Golden Severum and a Red Devil. Like a mule(a cross between a horse and a donkey), the parrot is born sterile 99.8% of the time. There are only 2 recorded true breedings of parrots and the offspring of these parrots were sterile. These fish do not occur in the wild. I agree that these fish are beautiful to look at but there are some things to consider. There grotesque misformities can create a problem for them as they grow larger. There Mounths are almost in a fixed position which they cannot close all the way which in feeding... food usually escapes the first couple of times. The Parrot has to actually inhale its food and if place with other large chiclids, they will have to compete twice as hard for food. Another point, they have the very aggressive nature which they inherit from there Red Devil or Green Terror Parent even though their Severum parent is one of the most docile of the chiclid family. There ballon shape sometimes makes it more difficult for them to hide and compared to most other chiclids... they are slow movers which also has an impact for competition for food. Red Parrots, specifically, will be a dull yellow to white color unless fed certain types of food such as Plankton and brine shrimp. When fed these foods over a period of time you will start to see why some people refer to them as "blood" parrots. And the last point I will make is a sad one. Like alot of cross bred species... The Parrot has a shortened life span. Severums, Green Terrors, and Red Devils, which parent the Parrots, all have a life span of about 10 years or longer where the parrot itself only has a life span of about 5 years. "
i'll be adding a blood parrot profile in a couple of days so check that out also.
