Injured Cichlid

Well I went to feed my tank today which has 4 small-medium cichlids. As I was feeding them I noticed that my yellow cichlid has a red bump on his forehead, and has little balck dots on it and seems to be a little whiteish around the of his forehead. He was fine yesterday, and today he has a bump that looks like its bloody red, and like hes been ramming a wall. Is he ok, and is there I can do to help him like adding Salt?

Whtz the name of the fish? Is it active and has it got apetite? How big tank?

if your hands have any cuts or scratches on them, then keep them out of the tank for a bit ok

The fish is very active as with my other cichlids, and he has a very hardy appetite. I dont have a digital camera Ill have to get a disposable digital and post a pic

I'm not sure but I hear some cichlids form some kind of lump on there head as they mature. I think the Frontosa does it, I don't know what else. I might be wrong.

Fish u hv's a Electric Yellow Cichlid. An african lake malawian cichlid. The bump u addressed is called a nuckal hump. Most of central american cichlids have it as a symbol of sexual maturity. Generally africans dont hv it but i've seen in some specimens. Nothin to worry & most probably the one with a hump will be the dominant male.

but some illnesses also produce swellings - and they look pretty nasty
