what are the tank mates and a size comparison between them. It looks like a wound from a possible fight or a sharp object in the tank. I have never had to treat injuries before so I will let someone else respond on that.

Can you provide some basic info.
Tank size?
how long has it been set up?
What are the water parameters, Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate?

20 gallon tank with 2 gold fish. Has been set up for about 2 years. I change the water often. All levels are good. Would a gold fish attack a Pleco?

One gold fish is massive, about 9 inches but the same length as the Pleco.

Goldies can indeed be aggressive, especially when cramped into a tank too small.

What are your readings for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? How often and how much water do you change?
