intestine disease

I recently had a cherry barb die due to some kind of digestion problem. It just kept getting fatter, and it would produce stringy feces. Now I'm worrying about if my dwarf courami caught it, because I haven't seen it produce any feces for quite some time. Is this a contagious disease? If so, is there anything I can do about it?

if it's a parasite,which it sound's like,you can try garlic juice to kill the parasites.there are a few commercial garlic extracts avalible,but fresh garlic juice is most effective.if your willing to use meds.metronizadole is a very good anti internal parasite medication.use as directed by the manufacturer instructions.
