Is 216watt T6 to much for freshwater?

I have a 55 gallon and want to upgrade my lighting with half Blue Actinic and the other half is 12000k lighting. I'm looking at the 48" 216Watt T6 lighing from catfish lighting. Is this too much for a fresh water or is it safe?

I do have live plants as well as fishes.

the colour spectrum is way too high- you want about half the kelvin temperature for a planted tank.

Thanks Ishar. I'm not doing a full planted tank. Just 6 or 7 plants. For education purposes what would happen if I would use a high color spectrum light?

The light will be a bit blue, but it should work. You should check to see if the light has 2 switches to turn half the lights on & off. That's a lot of light over a 55g for a few plants.

I would go with the 216w but use 4x 6400K Super Daylight bulbs
